I went to South Africa this past January and this just so happens to be my favorite picture from the trip. And it's not just because this man has "style" written all over him. Although, that is a pretty big part of the reason. But it's also because this picture is of a man who lived in what could be one of the worst living environments I have ever seen. Yet he was hanging out in this make-shift house (that also housed the community's "museum") telling a group of well-to-do westerners how thankful he was for the new bathroom that was just built about 500 yards from his home.

Stories like his make me smile because I know that he is happy. Stories like his also make me sad because there are people like me in the world who feel like their day isn't quite as good because they didn't have enough money to get that iced coffee they were really craving.
